Looking at your power system projects from a "big picture" perspective is the key to ensuring their success over time. Planning studies look at your system as a whole in order to optimize transmission configurations for a wide range of loads and generation sources. This typically includes an analysis of the current situation and identification of long term objectives to help ensure that your system will continue to function effectively taking into account potential future developments.
Teshmont has extensive experience in conducting planning studies for a wide variety of clients throughout the world.
In a typical Planning Study Teshmont will:
Analyze the current system and situation
Create structured plan for future development
Incorporate the impact of load changes (volume and distribution)
Use customized load flow and stability simulator programs
Determine long term system objectives: 5-10-25 years
Include accurate budget projections (equipment purchases, construction, manpower, etc.)
Provide technical alternatives for your system (AC, HVDC, Back to Back, etc.)
Identify economic, environmental, demographic impacts on your system.
Incorporate knowledge accumulated through past experience dealing with other planning studies and systems
Preparation of a comprehensive report
Bring systems engineers to our location for additional analysis and technology transfer.
Benefits you will gain from using Teshmont for a Planning Study:
Opinions from proven experts
Elimination of the cost of leasing or purchasing planning and analysis software.
Depiction of the "Big Picture" through use of charts, diagrams and easily deciphered reports.
Cost reduction for additional project specific studies and project implementation
Cost-effective long term solutions
Wider perspective of the impact of projects and load changes on the entire system
For the Tian-Guang 1 800 MW HVDC project in Southern China, Teshmont's planning studies provided structured plans for future development including a detailed design outline that was later used for this project's feasibility study. The South China Power Study Project considered the integrated development of four provinces and evaluated a wide range of generation and transmission options ultimately resulting in the development of a very large scale transmission system.
Please refer to the Rihand-Delhi DC project in India as well as the Itaipu Transmission System project in Brazil, for additional information on how Teshmont's Planning Studies have had a positive impact on the overall success of these system upgrades.
