Victor Project

The De Beers Diamond mine is located in the James Bay Lowlands of Northern Ontario, approximately 90 km west of the coastal community of Attawapiskat. The purpose of the Victor Project is to provide a power supply to the mine.

Teshmont is providing services to the Contractor for the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of 450 km of 115 kV transmission line as well as modifications at existing substations.
 
 
   

Teshmont’s engineering services for this project include:

Transmission line tower designs, which include the following deliverables:

  • General arrangement drawings for each structure type including bills of materials

  • Loading tree calculations for each structure showing design wind and weight spans and factors of safety

  • Foundation design calculations showing derivation of pole setting depths

  • Plan and profile drawings

  • Sag/Tension calculations

    Mobilization of survey teams to establish ground control points, which will be utilized for the following field activities:

  • LiDAR (Light Detection And Ranging) survey of all the transmission line routes to provide data necessary for preparation of the plan and profile

  • Geotechnical investigations

  • Establishing clearing limits along each route and the structure locations once these are established on the plan and profile

    Design modifications at the existing substations, which include the following deliverables:

  • General arrangement drawings for each substation

  • Design of equipment support structures and foundations

  • Design of new control, protection, and SCADA systems

  • Protection coordination and setting studies

  • Design of new PLCC communication systems

    Engineering quality management, construction audits, and commissioning assistance.
