Teshmont was retained by Velco to provide the following services:
- Carry out feasibility studies. The studies dealt in particular with the technical problem of connecting a dc system to a relatively weak ac power system and established the following:
- Acceptable ac system voltages and var supply/absorption requirements
- Load rejection overvoltages
- Maximum acceptable ratings of switched capacitor and filter banks
- Prepare of the converter station specification
- Evaluate proposals
- Monitor the contract
- Review the system modifications and station design
- Assist with construction supervision and commissioning
