Teshmont is very pleased to announce that it has been awarded a three year Framework Agreement by Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE) to provide Specialist HVDC and Advanced Simulation Services.
SSE has an increasing capital programme in the HVDC electrical transmission infrastructure sector, and faces significant challenges in ensuring that the inclusion of advanced technologies such as Voltage Source Converter (VSC) based HVDC solutions and fast acting FACTS devices are robust and seamlessly integrated into predominantly traditional ac grid. In addition, to meet the Scottish Government’s target for renewable generation, and for the development of the existing infrastructure, significant work is being undertaken on the transmission system. This work includes the building and rebuilding of overhead lines, the development of grid substations, and the construction of HVDC converter and cable schemes.
Teshmont will provide specialist HVDC system studies and engineering support. The services include developing simulation models, performing system studies, reviewing the HVDC Contractor’s design, attending factory system tests for major HVDC equipment, and providing commissioning assistance. Teshmont has enlisted the services of Electranix Corporation, Winnipeg, to provide additional HVDC specialist services in the area of HVDC simulation and model development.
"Great Britain will soon have one of the most complex integrated AC / DC systems in the world. Teshmont is excited to work on this challenging project that will push the technological limits for HVDC transmission through the use of multi-terminal Voltage Source Converters (VSCs)." says Ralph Kurth, Teshmont's President.
