On April 16, 2015, Teshmont received an Award of Excellence from the Association of Consulting Engineers of Manitoba (ACEC MB) for our work on the Montana Alberta Tie Line Remedial Action Scheme Project.
Teshmont was engaged to study and design a Remedial Action Scheme for the Montana Alberta Tie Line, a new transmission path that connects the electrical systems of Alberta and Montana and integrates 300 MW of wind power. The RAS is designed to maintain reliability and stability during operation of these two large interconnected electrical systems by monitoring abrupt outage conditions of major transmission lines and automatically taking corrective actions to avoid system blackouts.
Teshmont was able to address the many challenges and complexities of the project and our client's needs by providing an innovative, effective and practical solution that allows for the reliable interconnection of the Alberta and Montana networks, while simultaneously integrating 300 MW of clean, renewable wind power.
ACEC Awards of Excellence are only given to projects that demonstrate the highest regard for application of technology, social/economic/environmental impact, complexity, and addressing the client's needs.
